Cutting and Marking
- Cut strictly following the direction of the knit columns (or nap). Mark all notches on the pattern pieces using tailor's chalk or temporary basting threads to ensure even alignment during assembly.

Attaching Pockets to Front and Back Panels
- With right sides together, align the front panel and pocket pieces, matching their short edges to the sides of the cardigan front. Pin together, aligning the notches, and sew the pockets onto the front panels. Repeat this process to align and sew the pockets onto the back panel pieces.

Reinforcing Pocket Seams with Silicone Tape
- Mark 2 cm above and below the pocket attachment seam. Cut two pieces of silicone tape matching this distance. Place the silicone tape along the side edge, lining it up with the pocket stitching line, and sew from notch to notch. Trim any excess and press the finished seam allowance toward the pocket.

Assembling and Reinforcing Shoulder Seams
- Place the front and back pieces together with right sides facing, aligning along the shoulder edges. Pin or baste, then sew the shoulder seams. Place silicone tape along the shoulder seam allowance, serge the seam and tape together, and press the seam allowances toward the back.

Attaching Sleeves and Pinning Side Seams
- Align the top notch of the sleeve cap with the cardigan's shoulder seam and pin. Pin the sleeve into the armhole all the way around, easing in the fabric slightly. Finish the edges with a serger and press the seam allowances to one side. Then, with right sides together, align and pin the front and back pieces evenly along the side edges, including the pockets.

Sewing Side Seams and Pockets
- Sew the sleeve edges and cardigan side seams together using the machine in a single continuous stitch, forming the pockets as part of the same side seam. Press the seam allowances toward the front piece, in the direction the pockets face.

Reinforcing Side Seams with Silicone Tape
- Cut silicone tape pieces for the lower side seam (bottom edge to pocket) and upper side seam (pocket to sleeve edge). Place the silicone tape along the sleeve seam allowance, lining it up with the stitching line, and serge both together. Trim extra tape when reaching the pocket.

Serging Pockets and Pressing Side Seams
- Serge around the pocket without silicone tape, then place the silicone tape underneath once back at the side edge and serge it together. Press the finished edges toward the front panels (in the direction the pocket faces) and give the pocket a nice press.

Finishing Sleeve and Cardigan Lower Edges
- Sew around the lower edges of the sleeves, leaving a thread tail, then tuck the thread ends into the seam and press the sleeve seam allowances upward. Finish the lower edge of the cardigan and press the finished seam allowance up toward the inside on the wrong side.

Hemming Cardigan and Preparing Sleeve Casing
- Sew down the hem allowance at the bottom edge and press flat. On the folded sleeve allowance, mark a 2.0–2.5 cm wide opening for inserting elastic. Stitch the sleeve hem allowances, leaving the marked opening unstitched, and press.

Inserting Elastic and Closing Openings
- Measure and cut elastic tape into two pieces. Insert the elastic into the sleeve casing, overlap the ends by 1.0 cm, and secure them by hand or with a zigzag stitch. Sew the pocket opening from the front side, then press the seam flat.

Preparing and Pressing the Plackets
- Reinforce the plackets with interfacing. With right sides facing, align the collar edges with the bands and stitch them together. Press the seam allowances open, fold the placket in half with wrong sides together, and press from the right side.

13

Attaching the Placket to the Cardigan
- Pin or baste the placket to the right side of the neckline, matching the center seam to the center back notch and aligning other notches. Attach the placket, leaving the bottom seam allowance loose. Topstitch both the beginning and the end of the placket.

14

Finishing the Placket Lower Edges
- Press the seam allowances to the inside of the facing. Fold the facing, aligning the free seam allowances at the bottom edge right sides together, wrapping the allowance inside, and sew the lower edge of the placket.

15

Securing the Placket Facing
- Turn the placket right side out, straighten corners, and press along the seam. Press the other seam allowances to the wrong side by 1.0 cm. Baste the pressed edges, overlapping the first placket seam by 0.1-0.2 cm. From the right side, stitch in the ditch to secure the inner pressed edges.

Final Pressing and Finishing
- Remove all basting threads and chalk marks. Press the placket, lightly steaming along the back neckline to help it lay smoothly, and give the entire cardigan a final pressing.
