Fabric Preparation and Cutting
- Pre-shrink the fabric (dampen it, let it dry until slightly moist, press with an iron, and allow it to finish drying completely). Trace the pattern pieces onto the fabric, making sure to follow the grainline. Cut out the pieces according to the pattern. Note: At this stage, you can leave extra allowance for fit adjustments along the side edges and waistband.

Reinforcing Interfacing Areas
- Reinforce the glue areas (the shaded parts on the pattern). Depending on your fabric, you can reinforce the slit completely or just at the top.

Pressing the Front Seam
- Snip the basting threads just below the backstitch. Press the seam allowances open.

Sewing the Front Seam
- Align the contour edges on the front pieces. Sew a permanent seam up to the beginning of the opening, secure the stitch, and then continue with a basting stitch using a wide thread.

Securing Seam Allowances
- Stitch the seam allowances close to the edge, then remove the basting thread.

Attaching the Waistband
- Align the bottom edge of the waistband with the waistline of the skirt. Sew the waistband in place, then press the seam allowance toward the waistband.

Finishing Waistband Ends
- Align the short edges of the waistband, folding it with the right sides together. Stitch along the short edges and trim the seam allowances at the corners. For the belt loop, continue the stitching up to the zipper. Turn the ends of the waistband right side out and press them flat.
