Serging Pocket Edges
- Serge the edges of the pocket piece all the way around. Topstitch from the right side of the fabric. Press everything flat.

Basting Pocket Opening
- Press the pocket opening seam allowance to the wrong side, making it 2.5 cm wide. Baste the seam allowances in place using a contrasting thread, stitching 1 mm from the edge.

Reinforcing Pocket Opening
- Use the pocket glue piece to reinforce the pocket opening seam allowance. Attach interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric piece.

Positioning Pocket
- Place the pocket onto the panel. Fold the pocket seam allowances to the wrong side, aligning the edge of the allowance with the pocket marking on the panel. Pin in place.

Creating Pocket Template
- You can make a template to help with pocket construction. Start by trimming the seam allowances from the pocket pattern. Trace the pocket piece without seam allowances onto sturdy cardboard. Using this template, mark the stitching line for attaching the pocket on the wrong side along the open edges.

Marking Pocket Placement
- On the right side of the front panels, mark the placement for the patch pocket. Keep in mind that the marking on the panel is smaller than the actual pocket. The panel features lines indicating where the pocket seam allowances will go.

Stitching Pocket Opening
- Sew a line using a twin needle on your machine. Stitch from the right side of the fabric. While sewing, use your hand-basted stitches as a guide—the basting should run right between the two needles. Press the seam flat.

Preparing Pocket for Attachment
- To make attaching the pocket easier, turn the pinned pocket inside out so the right side is facing inward. This way, the lower part of the front piece will be inside the pocket.

Securing Pocket Openings
- Sew vertical bar tacks to secure the pocket opening. Stitch 5 mm from the pocket's side edge. Each bar tack should be 2.5 cm long.

Assembling Shoulder Seams
- Place the front and back pieces right sides together, aligning the shoulder edges. Pin from the back side. Sew together with an overlock machine, stitching from the back side. Press the seam, then fold the allowances toward the front and press again.

Attaching Sleeves
- With the right sides facing, align the sleeves with the cardigan along the armhole edges. Pin from the sleeve side for a smooth fit. Make sure not to mix up the right and left sleeves—use the guide marks as reference. Stitch the sleeves to the cardigan using an overlock machine, sewing from the sleeve side. Press the seams, then fold the seam allowances toward the cardigan and press again.

Joining Facing Pieces
- Place the facing pieces right sides together, matching the short shaped edges. Sew with a 1 cm seam allowance, securing each end.

Sewing Side and Sleeve Seams
- Turn the cardigan inside out so the right side faces in, aligning the side seams and sleeve edges. Pin from the back, matching the seams. Sew together on a serger in one continuous stitch, stitching from the back side. Press, then fold the seam allowances toward the front and press again.

- Press the facing piece in half lengthwise, wrong sides together.

Shaping Neckline Curve
- Use an iron to shape the neckline into a smooth curve where it joins the back neck area (between the shoulder reference points). As you press, gently stretch the outer edge of the piece while easing the fold to create the desired curve.

Pinning Placket to Neckline
- Mark notches along the center back line. Place the facing piece right sides together with the neckline, matching up the reference points, and pin in place. Make sure the neckline seam lines up with the reference point on the back. Gently stretch the facing between the reference points and pin from the facing side. At the bottom edge, align the edge of the facing with the crease made for the hem allowance. Fold the hem allowance onto the facing and secure with a pin.

Shaping Placket Chest Area
- With the help of an iron, give the placket a rounded shape at the chest area (use the chest reference point as a guide). When pressing, stretch the fold of the piece while easing the edge to achieve the correct contour.

Stitching Placket Bottom
- Place the short bottom edges of the placket together with right sides facing. Stitch with a 1.0 cm seam allowance on your machine. Turn the placket right side out and shape the corner neatly. Press flat.

Stitching Hems
- Sew a line with a twin needle on your machine. Stitch from the right side of the fabric. While sewing, let your hand-basted stitches guide you—make sure your basting runs straight and even. Basting stitches should go precisely between both needles. Press to finish.

Preparing Hem Finishing
- Refresh the pressing of the seam allowances for the hem of the cardigan and sleeves (2.5 cm). Secure the hem allowances with a stitch using a twin needle or a coverstitch machine. You can also secure the seam allowances with a zigzag stitch set to a frequency of 2–3 and a width of 3.5. Steps for finishing hems with a twin needle or coverstitch machine: Baste the seam allowances using a contrasting thread, sewing 1 mm from the edge of the allowance.

Topstitching Placket Seam
- Fold the seam allowances of the placket onto the cardigan and topstitch—0.2 mm from the right side. From the wrong side, stitch 0.1 mm from the seam on the cardigan, catching the seam allowances of the placket. Press with an iron.

Sewing Placket
- Sew the placket onto the edge using an overlocker. Stitch from the placket side. While sewing, gently stretch the placket between the pins and carefully align the edges of the placket and cardigan. Press with an iron and press the seam allowances toward the cardigan.

Creating Buttonholes
- Transfer the buttonhole markings to the right front of the cardigan. Stitch the buttonholes. Before stitching, test the buttonhole length on a sample piece—it should be about 2–4 mm longer than the diameter of the button.

Attaching Buttons
- Once the buttonholes are finished, mark where the buttons will be sewn. Place each button in the center of its buttonhole. Sew the buttons onto the left front of the cardigan, attaching them with a shank.
