Pocket Construction - Step 3
- Fold the pocket lining back and topstitch it to the lining and seam allowance, keeping the stitch 2–3 mm from the seam.

Pocket Construction - Step 1
- On the front piece of the pants (FPP), reinforce the pocket opening edge with a lengthwise fusible tape. The tape should be 1–1.5 cm wide.

- Place the front pants piece (FPP) right side up. Lay the pocket lining piece on top as shown in the diagram. Align the edges, pin them together, and serge along the pocket lining piece. Press the pocket lining.

- Press the pocket lining piece as shown in the diagram, making sure to shape the edge neatly.

- Place the side panel onto the pocket lining, matching all raw edges and notches. Secure the pocket opening and side panel with pins for extra hold. Stitch along the side panel edge with an overlocker, then press the seam.

- Lay the back pants piece (BP) right side up. Place the front pants piece (FP) as shown in the diagram. Make sure to match the notches, pin in place, then serge along the edge of the front pants piece. Press the seam toward the back pants piece.

- Sew the inseam. Pin as before, aligning notches, top and bottom of the seam, and stitch on the overlock from the back side of the pants. Press the seam toward the front.

- Insert the elastic into the waistband and sew two parallel lines using a sewing machine. Stretch the waistband so it matches the length of the elastic as you sew. Make sure the elastic sits snugly against the waistband fold the entire way around.

- Measure the elastic band around your ankle—it should fit comfortably, not too tight. Sew the ends of the band together to form a loop, then insert it into the hem of the pant leg.

- Finish the pant hem with an overlock. On the right side, mark the hemline—the fold line—and press along it.

- Fold the seam allowance over and sew a line on the sewing machine, 3.5 cm from the fold. Stretch the elastic to fit the hem of the pants as you stitch.

- Turn the pants inside out. Slide the elastic band onto the pant leg, aligning it neatly with the fold allowance. Stitch along the edge of the elastic, staying 1-2 mm from the side. Stretch the band to match the width of the hem as you sew.
