Fabric Preparation and Cutting
- Pre-shrink the fabric (Dampen the fabric, let it dry until just slightly moist, then iron it. Wait until it’s completely dry before use.) Be sure to pre-shrink the lining fabric as well. Transfer the pattern pieces onto the fabric, making sure to follow the grainline and nap direction (if there is one). Cut out the pieces according to the pattern. Mark the darts and pleats with tailor's chalk. Transfer all notches and reference marks by making 3mm snips through all layers of fabric, ensuring they're symmetrical. Mark the pleats on the front pieces with notches. If it’s hard to tell the right and wrong sides of your fabric, be sure to mark the wrong side as you cut! Reinforce all required pieces and areas marked with hatching on the pattern, including the entire waistband, the fly facing, and the seam allowances along the pocket opening on the front panels.

Sewing the Inseams
- Finish the inseam edges on both the front and back pieces. Place the matching front and back pieces right sides together. Sew the inseams, aligning the notches, and press the seam allowances open.

Assembling the Pocket
- Place the side piece right sides together with the burlap, matching up the edges along the seam line. Sew the pieces and finish the seam allowances together.

Finishing Central Edges and Marking Center Lines
- Finish the central edges of both halves, gently stretching the curved areas as you go. Mark the center lines on the front halves of the pants from the right side.

Sewing the Center Back Seam
- Align the central edges of the pant legs. Baste and sew from the top edge of the back down to the zipper end marking, then secure with a backstitch. Press the seam allowances open along the straight part of the center back seam, stopping before the curve begins.

Pressing the Fly Facing
- On the left front panel, measure 1 cm along the marked center front line and press the integrated fly facing to the inside. On the right panel, press the fly facing along the center line.

Marking and Topstitching the Fly
- From the right side of the pants, align the left and right front pieces exactly along the center line (marked line). Pin them in place. Measure 3 cm from the center front and mark the topstitching line for the fly on the right front piece from the outside. Sew a topstitch along the edge while attaching the second half of the zipper. Add a bar tack at the center front for extra strength.

Attaching the Zipper to the Left Panel
- Pin the zipper to the left front panel, keeping it 2-3 mm away from the teeth. Stitch the zipper in place from the right side, sewing close to the edge. IMPORTANT! The bottom stopper of the zipper should be positioned directly above the end mark for the zipper on the pattern.

Sewing Side Seams and Folding Pleats
- Place the side edges of the front and back pant pieces right sides together. Sew the side seams. Finish the seam allowances together and press them towards the back. From the right side, fold the pleats according to the markings on the pattern. Align the pleat edges and secure them with pins. The pleat should be directed toward the side seam from the outside; press in place. Note! The pleat edge should be pressed sharply, just like a crease. From the right side, stitch along the top edge of the pants to secure both the pleats and the pocket lining.

Preparing and Attaching Belt Loops
- Prepare the belt loops. Serge one of the long edges of the strip. Press the seam allowances, overlapping them so that the serged edge is on top. Sew along both sides, leaving a 0.3 cm margin from the edge. Then, cut the piece into five equal sections. With the right side of the pants facing up, place the belt loops face-down along the top edge, and stitch them in place using a triple stitch as marked on the pattern.

Assembling and Attaching the Waistband
- If you haven’t already, reinforce the waistband pieces. Place the waistband pieces right sides together and sew along the top edge. Trim the seam allowance down to 0.5 cm. Make small notches along the edge of the allowance, stopping 1–2 mm before the seam line. Press the seam allowances open, turn the waistband right side out, and press it flat. Finish the outer edge of the waistband’s inner side. Align the edges of the outer waistband and the pants, right sides facing, using the notches as guides. Sew the waistband in place, then press the seam allowances toward the waistband.

Finishing and Hemming
- Sew on a hook or button. Try on the pants and adjust the length if needed. Finish the raw edges at the bottom of each leg. Press the hem allowance, then either sew a straight stitch close to the edge by machine, or hem by hand using invisible stitches.
