Bust darts

Darts sewn on the front piece to shape the bust area.

  1. Transfer the dart markings onto the wrong side of the back pieces. Fold the darts along the center line, secure with pins or baste, and sew along the marked lines, backstitching at both ends. Press the darts toward the center of the back piece.

Transferring Dart and Center Front Lines

  1. On the wrong side, transfer the dart lines and the center front line from the pattern; if necessary, you can place a hand stitch along the center line so it is not lost during the sewing process.

Pinning and Stitching Darts

  1. Fold the front piece right sides together along the dart center marking, align the slanted marking lines, and pin in place. Sew the dart on the machine exactly along the marked line, starting at the dart base.
