Finishing top edge
Joining the outer top and lining at the upper edge while simultaneously stitching on the 1.0 cm elastic.
Where it is used
Pinning the top to the lining
p. 4- Pin the outer top to the lining along the upper edge, matching the raw edges and side seams, with right sides facing each other.

Pinning the top elastic
p. 4- Pin the elastic to the top edge of the top, placing it from the upper side and spreading it evenly along the full length, overlapping the elastic ends by 1.0 cm.

Finishing the top edge
p. 5- Finish the top edge of the top with the lining, while simultaneously stitching on the elastic all the way around using a 4-thread serger. Tuck the overlock thread tails into the cover-stitching line using a hook.

Pressing the top edge
p. 5- Turn right side out and press the top edge of the top, forming a slight roll from the front and back outer pieces.

Pinning the bottom edge
p. 5- Place the lining and the top together with wrong sides facing. Pin the lower edge of the outer top to the lining edge, turning a small section so the right sides face inward. Pin the edges through the open section at the hem.

Turning the top right-side out
p. 6- Turn the top right-side out through the opening left in the lining’s side seam.

Serging the bottom edge
p. 6- Serge the lower edge of the top shell to the lining edge on a 4-thread overlock, gently stretching and smoothing the seam allowances all the way around. Use a hook to tuck the serger thread tails into the coverstitch line.

Pressing the bottom edge
p. 6- Press the bottom edge of the top, forming a slight roll to the inside from the outer fabric on the front and back pieces.

Securing the elastic ends
p. 7- SECURE THE ELASTIC ENDS BY OVERLAPPING THE CUT EDGES BY 1.0 CM. MAKE SURE THE ELASTIC INSIDE DOESN’T GET TWISTED!

Marking the casing line
p. 7- MARK THE CASING TOPSTITCH LINE ALONG THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE TOP, SETTING IT 2.2 CM IN FROM THE EDGE.

17.1.6. Baste upper collar
p. 8- Baste the pressed edge of the upper collar to the seam where the lower collar is attached, keeping it 0.1 cm from the edge. When topstitching, make sure the stitching on the front side runs right along the collar attachment seam, and on the back side, it sits 0.1 cm above the lower edge of the upper collar.

17.1.2. Sew collar and finish corners
p. 8- Sew the lower part of the collar into the neckline. Finish the top corners of the placket. Allow a 0.7 cm seam.
