Placket secure seam
A 0.5 cm seam used to secure the overlapped placket ends at the V-neck corner.
Where it is used
12.1. Pressing placket
p. 11- Press the placket in half lengthwise, folding the crosswise edges with the wrong side facing in.

12.2. Overlapping placket ends
p. 11- Overlap the placket ends, aligning the cut edges so the right side lays over the left, forming a corner.

12.2. Securing placket seam
p. 12- Secure the seam allowances. Allowance: 0.5 cm.

12.3. Marking placket corner
p. 12- Mark the corner of the placket stitching line on the right side of the front bodice. Also align the reference marks at the placket corner with the chalk markings on the front and placket pattern pieces.

12.5. Stitching placket to neckline
p. 13- Stitch the placket to the neckline edge at the front corner, carefully keeping the neckline level. Clip into the neckline seam allowance at the corner, stopping 1 mm short of the stitching. Seam allowance: 0.7 cm.

Securing the Placket Facing
p. 17- Turn the placket right side out, straighten corners, and press along the seam. Press the other seam allowances to the wrong side by 1.0 cm. Baste the pressed edges, overlapping the first placket seam by 0.1-0.2 cm. From the right side, stitch in the ditch to secure the inner pressed edges.

Serging Placket Edges
p. 4- Serge/Overlock one of the long raw edges on the placket pieces. Note that, when finished, the serged edges on the plackets must be a mirror image of each other. Perform the serging stitch on the right side of the piece. Press lightly (or finger-press).

Marking Collar Seam Lines
p. 5- Mark the collar, measuring 0.7 cm from the edges until the intersection of the lines.

Pre-stitching Placket Section
p. 7- Pre-stitch the placket section on the sewing machine, using a seam allowance of 0.7 cm.

Aligning Plackets
p. 9- Direct the allowance at the bottom edge of the slash (opening) inwards, place the right placket over the left one, and align the plackets.

Mark Reference Points
p. 4- Mark reference points on the front piece. Chalk the stitching line for attaching the placket onto the front. Seam allowance is 1.0 cm for the vertical lines and the lower horizontal edge. Where the lines meet are your placket's reference points.

Prepare Plackets
p. 4- Finish one of the vertical edges on the plackets. Press the plackets in half lengthwise.
