Pre-shrinking elastic

Applying steam/heat to the elastic band before insertion to ensure it does not shrink and distort the waistband later.

Where it is used

Pre-shrink the elastic band. Thread the elastic through the waistband. Try on to determine the correct length. Join the ends of the elastic to form a loop, placing the edges together, and secure with a zigzag stitch and backstitching.
