Sleeve insertion
Pinning and sewing sleeves into armholes with a 1.0 cm seam allowance, easing the cap.
Where it is used
Sleeve Cap Gathering Lines
p. 11- Sew two parallel gathering lines along the sleeve cap between the notches (3 mm and 7 mm from the edge) using a 3.5-4 mm stitch length.
Basting Sleeve Hem Casing
p. 12- Re-fold the sleeve hem along the pressed lines (1+1 cm), pin, and baste in place.
Sewing Sleeve Side Seams
p. 12- Unfold the pre-pressed hem. Place sleeve pieces right sides together, pin, and sew the side seam. Press the seam allowances toward the front.
Gathering Sleeve Cap
p. 13- Pull the gathering threads on the sleeve cap to match the length specified on the pattern, then tie off the threads.
Setting Sleeves into Armholes
p. 13- Pin sleeves to armholes right sides together, matching notches. Sew with a 1 cm seam allowance. Finish the allowances with a serger and press toward the sleeve.
Inserting Sleeve Elastic
p. 13- Thread the measured elastic through the casing opening. Overlap the ends by 0.5 cm and stitch them securely together to form a loop.
6.1. Sleeve Prep - Pinning
p. 6- Pin the sleeve's upper and lower edges together, matching the edges with right sides facing each other.
7. Pinning sleeves to armhole
p. 10- Pin the sleeves to the armhole edge, matching the edges and notches, with right sides together.
3. Sew lower sleeve seam
p. 4- Sew the lower sleeve seam, serge, and press.

p. 4- Turn/press the upper sleeve edge seam allowance to the inside 5-7mm. Fold the elastic casing inside along the notches and baste, then topstitch. Press.
4. Finish sleeve hem
p. 4- Finish the sleeve hem. If gathered with elastic, treat it like the top edge, with a hem width matching the elastic width. If free, use a double hem.
5. Insert elastic into sleeve
p. 4- Insert elastic tape into the upper sleeve casing. The tape length is 22-27 cm per sleeve depending on size. Secure the tape at the sleeve cap.
