Sleeve installation
Attaching and serging the sleeves to the armholes in one step.
Where it is used
18. Attach sleeves
p. 10- Attach and serge the sleeves to the armholes in one step using a 4-thread overlock machine (alternatively, sew with a standard machine, then finish the edges with a regular 3-thread overlock).
Sew Sleeve Seams
p. 6- Turn the sleeves inside out, matching up the edges. Pin them in place. Use a serger to sew the seam, starting from the back of the sleeve. The front of the sleeve is marked with a notch along the sleeve cap.
Pin Sleeves to Armholes
p. 7- Insert the sleeves into the armholes with right sides facing each other. Make sure not to mix up the right and left sleeves—use the guide marks for reference. Pin the sleeves in place from the sweater side.
Sew Sleeves
p. 7- Sew the sleeves with an overlocker. Stitch from the sweater side.
Sleeve Insertion
p. 12- Pin the sleeves into the armholes, right sides together; do not mix up the right and left sleeves, and align the control points. The control point on the sleeve cap relates to the front. Stitch the sleeves with the overlocker, placing the stitching on the jumper side. Press lightly, then press the seam allowances towards the jumper body.
Stitching the sleeve upper edge
p. 7- Stitch and serge the front and back sections of the sleeve along the upper edge using a 4-thread overlock. Seam allowance: 0.7 cm.
Pressing the sleeve upper seam
p. 7- Press the seam allowance of the upper sleeve join toward the front part of the sleeve.
Pinning the sleeve pieces
p. 7- Pin the front and back sleeve pieces together along the top edge, matching the edges and notches, with right sides facing each other.
Pressing the sleeve hem
p. 8- Press the hem allowance of the sleeve up by 2.0 cm.
Sewing sleeves to armholes
p. 9- Sew and serge the sleeves into the armholes of the front and back pieces at the same time using a 4-thread overlock. Seam allowance: 0.7 cm.
