Stay taping

The technique of applying stay tape to bias edges, such as the front neckline, to stabilize them.

Where it is used

Apply Stay Tape to Lower Pieces

  1. From the right side, apply bias fusible stay tape to reinforce the neckline edges and armhole edges on the lower front and back pieces. While fusing, be careful not to stretch the edge. After fusing, compare the edge length to the paper pattern—the lengths should match.

Apply Stay Tape to Upper Pieces

  1. From the wrong side, fuse bias knit stay tape along the neckline and armhole edges on the upper front and back pieces. After fusing, compare the edge length to the paper pattern—the lengths should match.
