Threading elastic
Inserting the 2.0 cm elastic into the bottom hem casing and securing its ends.
Where it is used
Pinning the top elastic
p. 4- Pin the elastic to the top edge of the top, placing it from the upper side and spreading it evenly along the full length, overlapping the elastic ends by 1.0 cm.

Threading the bottom elastic
p. 7- CUT A 2.0 CM-WIDE ELASTIC TO THE REQUIRED LENGTH. THE RECOMMENDED ELASTIC LENGTH IS INDICATED ON THE FRONT PATTERN PIECE. THREAD THE ELASTIC INTO THE CASING THROUGH THE OPENING LEFT.

Securing the elastic ends
p. 7- SECURE THE ELASTIC ENDS BY OVERLAPPING THE CUT EDGES BY 1.0 CM. MAKE SURE THE ELASTIC INSIDE DOESN’T GET TWISTED!

17.
p. 8- Sew the ends of the elastic together to form a loop, allowing for a 1.0 cm seam allowance.

20.
p. 8- Pin the elastic to the bottom edge of the top's lining, placing the elastic on the right side and overlapping the seam allowance by 1.0 cm. Baste the elastic onto the lower seam allowance of the top's lining.

19.
p. 8- Sew down the seam allowance where the elastic ends are joined, stitching 0.5 cm from the edge.

18.
p. 8- Finish the seam allowance where the ends of the elastic are joined. Use a hook to tuck in the overlock threads along the stitching line.

22.
p. 9- Press the seam where the elastic was stitched to the bottom edge of the top's lining.

21.
p. 9- Using a flatlock machine, stitch along the elastic, attaching it to the lower seam allowance of the lining. Tuck the threads inside the stitching line with a hook.

Finishing the Waistband Inner Edge
p. 3- The opening for the elastic will be on the inside of the waistband once finished. Using an overlock machine, finish the long edge on the inside of the waistband piece, stitching from the right side of the fabric.

Sewing the Waistband Ends
p. 3- Fold the waistband piece with the right sides together, aligning the short edges. Sew the short edges together using either an overlock or a sewing machine. The seam should be 0.7 cm wide. Be sure to leave an opening for the elastic, about 3 cm. Secure the beginning and end of each stitch. Press the seam flat, then make a small notch along the fold line, stopping about 2 mm before the overlock stitch. Press the seam allowances open in opposite directions.

Inserting the Elastic
p. 4- Pre-shrink the elastic band. Thread the elastic through the waistband. Try on to determine the correct length. Join the ends of the elastic to form a loop, placing the edges together, and secure with a zigzag stitch and backstitching.
