Topstitching
A sewing technique where a line of stitching is made on the right side of the garment, close to a seam or edge.
Where it is used
Topstitching Sleeve Seam
p. 2- Press the seam allowance toward the front and topstitch it with a sewing machine, starting from the hemline up to where the allowance is attached, keeping the stitch 0.5 cm from the seam. Tuck the serger thread tails securely under the bar tack.

Topstitching Neckline
p. 5- Press the seam allowances of the neckline toward the T-shirt and topstitch from the right side, keeping the stitch line 0.1–0.2 cm from the seam on the T-shirt.

Topstitching Twill Tape
p. 4- Topstitch the twill tape 0.1 cm from its edge. Check from the wrong side to make sure the tape's edge is sewn down evenly along the entire seam. Remove any basting stitches, and trim the loose ends of the tape to match the short edges of the collar. Press with an iron.

17.2.6. Topstitch neckline
p. 9- Sew a decorative and reinforcing topstitch along the neckline at 0.7-0.8 cm, gently stretching the fabric as you go. Remove any basting stitches when finished.

Topstitch Neckline and Armholes
p. 5- Secure the seam allowances at the neckline and armholes to the lower layer of the top so it won't roll outward while worn. Mark matching reference points for where the stitching starts and ends. From each strap, measure 2.5 cm out to both sides. Press the seam allowances toward the lower layer and topstitch from the right side, catching the lower layer by 0.1-0.2 cm. At the beginning and end of each line of stitching, add neat backstitches.

Topstitch Armhole Edges
p. 6- Direct the seam allowances along the armhole edges toward the top's lower piece as well. Topstitch from the right side, stitching 0.1-0.2 cm onto the lower piece. Add backstitches at the beginning and end of the seam.

Topstitching the Waistband (Second Line)
p. 5- Sew the second line 1.5 cm below the first. Where the seam meets in a circle, secure it neatly with a backstitch. Press the waistband.

Topstitching the Waistband (First Line)
p. 5- Distribute the gathers evenly along the waistband. Pin in place at the side seams, as well as at the center front and back of the shorts. Sew the first stitch 1.5 cm from the top edge of the waistband. As you sew, gently stretch the waistband between the pins. At the point where the seam meets to form a circle, secure it neatly with a backstitch.

Stitch Bottom Edge
p. 10- Stitch the bottom edge, making the stitching exactly from one clip (notch) to the other clip (notch).

Topstitch Placket Allowances
p. 12- Mark the lines for topstitching the placket allowances. Measure 1.5 cm down from the placket attachment seam and mark a line. Extend the vertical placket attachment seam up to the marking line. Topstitch along the markings, catching the placket allowances from the wrong side.

Topstitching the collar stand
p. 17- Topstitch the pressed inner edge of the collar onto the collar seam at the neckline, sewing from the right side and following the groove of the seam. On the wrong side, make sure the stitch secures the pressed seam allowance of the collar.

15.25. Marking fly topstitching
p. 21- Mark the fly topstitching on the right side of the closure.
