Vertical topstitching
Stitching vertically through the waistband and elastic at the side seams to prevent the elastic from twisting.
Where it is used
16.6. Stitching waistband layers
p. 24- Stitch the outer waistband to the inner waistband along the top edge. Seam allowance: 0.7 cm.
16.8. Topstitching waistband facing
p. 24- Topstitch the waistband facing seam at 0.1 cm from the inner waistband side.
16.9. Pressing waistband top edge
p. 24- Press the waistband along the top edge from the inner waistband side, forming a 0.1 cm roll from the outer waistband.
17.10. Topstitching waistband ditch
p. 29- Sew a topstitch along the seam where the outer waistband is attached, stitching right in the seam ditch. Remove the basting threads.

24. Topstitch bottom hem
p. 31- Sew a topstitch along the bottom of the pant legs, 3.8 cm in from the edge.
Step 25
p. 9- Add vertical stitches at the waistband along the side seams of the pants to keep the elastic from twisting.
Step 32
p. 18- Fold the waistband right sides together and stitch along the short edge on the straight-stitch machine. Seam allowance is 0.7 cm. Use backstitches at the beginning and end of the stitching line.
