Waistband
The rib-knit waistband pattern piece.
Where it is used
Positioning Inner Waistband
p. 7- Lay the bodice wrong side up. Place the inner waistband along the waistband seam, right side facing the wrong side of the bodice. Pin in place, matching notches.
19.7. Stitching Waistband to Lining
p. 11- Stitch the inner edge of the waistband to the skirt lining with a 1.0 cm seam allowance.
19.8. Pressing Waistband Seam
p. 11- Press the seam allowance where the waistband is attached to the skirt lining toward the lining.
23. Pinning Waistband
p. 14- Pin the waistband in place, making sure the seam allowances are smooth.
Attaching the Waistband
p. 4- Align the bottom edge of the waistband with the waistline of the skirt. Sew the waistband in place, then press the seam allowance toward the waistband.
Attaching the Waistband
p. 6- Fold the waistband in half with the wrong sides together. Pin the waistband to the top’s waist edge, matching the notches and aligning the waistband seam with the side seam. Make sure the opening for threading the elastic will end up on the inside of the top when finished. Attach the waistband using an overlock machine, stitching along the waistband side. Press the seam, then press the seam allowances up toward the top.
