  1. Mark the spot for sewing the button on the left edge of the front and on the right edge of the front from the facing side. Mark according to the markings on the patterns for the ruffle of the panel and facing.

Attaching the Placket

  1. Mark the stitching line for attaching the placket on the front piece from the right side. Allow for a 1.0 cm seam allowance. Mark the reference points for the end of the fastening on the front piece (the intersection of lines is where your placket markers should be).

Pressing and Aligning Plackets

  1. Sew the lower edges of the placket to the horizontal edge of the front closure, making sure to align all reference points. Allow a 1.0 cm seam allowance.

Sewing Placket

  1. Sew the placket onto the edge using an overlocker. Stitch from the placket side. While sewing, gently stretch the placket between the pins and carefully align the edges of the placket and cardigan. Press with an iron and press the seam allowances toward the cardigan.

Attaching Buttons

  1. Once the buttonholes are finished, mark where the buttons will be sewn. Place each button in the center of its buttonhole. Sew the buttons onto the left front of the cardigan, attaching them with a shank.
