A custom cardboard guide cut to the exact size of the pocket without seam allowances, used for precise pressing and marking.

You can make a template to help with pocket construction. Start by trimming the seam allowances from the pocket pattern. Trace the pocket piece without seam allowances onto sturdy cardboard. Using this template, mark the stitching line for attaching the pocket on the wrong side along the open edges.
