Clipping Curves
Making small snips in seam allowances on curved edges (neckline, armholes) to allow them to lay flat.
Where it is used
Tuck Serger Tail
p. 6- Bend the serger tail at the neckline toward the armhole and tuck it under the seam allowance fold.
17.1.5. Clip collar seam allowance
p. 8- Clip the collar seam allowance and the neckline edge of the front where the placket ends.
Trim and Clip Seams
p. 4- Trim the seam allowances down to 0.5 cm; on curved areas, clip into the allowance, stopping 0.2 cm short of the stitching.
Clip Armscye Seams
p. 5- Also clip the armscye seam allowance so the seam can be laid out in a straight line.
Clipping Front Corners
p. 9- On the front piece, make diagonal clips (notches), stopping 0.1 cm short of the end of the placket attachment stitching lines.

p. 24- Clip the seam allowance of the waistband’s upper edge facing seam at the curved areas.
Trimming Armhole Corners
p. 8- Trim the corners of the shoulder and side seam allowances near the armhole.

Trimming Neckline Corners
p. 10- Trim the corners of the shoulder and side seam allowances near the armhole.
Trimming Neckline Allowance
p. 11- Trim the seam allowance down to 0.5 – 0.7 cm.
Clipping Neckline Allowance
p. 11- Trim, stopping 3-4 cm short of the center back (as shown in the photo). Place clips/notches on the allowance, stopping 0.2 cm short of the stitching line.
Trimming Corners
p. 8- Trim the corners of the shoulder and side seam allowances near the armhole.
