Collar construction
Assembling and attaching the stand-up collar to the neckline.
Where it is used
16. Collar Preparation
p. 7- 16.1. Stitch the ends of the collar with the right sides facing inward. Leave a seam allowance of 0.7 cm. 16.2. Turn the collar right side out and press it flat.
17. Attach collar to neckline
p. 7- 17.1.1. Pin the lower edge of the collar to the dress neckline. The collar ends should meet the notch at the center of the placket. Fold the placket right sides together along the crease, making sure part of the collar stays between the placket edges.
17.1.6. Baste upper collar
p. 8- Baste the pressed edge of the upper collar to the seam where the lower collar is attached, keeping it 0.1 cm from the edge. When topstitching, make sure the stitching on the front side runs right along the collar attachment seam, and on the back side, it sits 0.1 cm above the lower edge of the upper collar.
17.1.3 - 17.1.4. Turn and press collar
p. 8- Turn the placket corners right side out. Press the lower edge of the upper collar upward.
17.1.2. Sew collar and finish corners
p. 8- Sew the lower part of the collar into the neckline. Finish the top corners of the placket. Allow a 0.7 cm seam.
Attach Collar to Sweater
p. 6- Place the collar (unfinished edge) right sides together with the sweater, aligning the neckline edges and matching all guide points. Pin in place. Sew the collar to the sweater using a sewing machine, with a 1.0 cm seam allowance.
Check Zipper Alignment
p. 9- Zip it up and check that the collar seam is even on both sides. Press to finish.
Stitch Collar Attachment Seam
p. 11- On the right side, stitch along the groove of the collar attachment seam. On the wrong side, check that the collar edge is caught in the stitching all the way along the seam.
Baste Inside Collar
p. 11- Smooth out the inside of the collar and baste it along the neckline edge, letting it overlap the collar seam by about 1 cm.
Step 2: Assemble the belt
p. 6- To assemble the belt, you need to connect the belt parts from the Bottom details and Upper details kits together. You need to assemble the upper belt onto the lower belt along two seams: The top belt must be gathered to 6 cm. The belts must be connected along all seams, having previously left a small opening for turning, then process the seams with a zigzag/overlock. Then the 2 gathered belts must be turned inside out so that the seams remain inside.
Step 3: Assemble the collar
p. 7- Collars without gathers. Simply sew 2 pieces together, finish the seams and turn the collar inside out so that the seams remain inside.
Stitch bodice pieces and collar
p. 9- Then stitch the assembled pieces along the shoulder seams. Connect the upper and lower pieces along the armhole seam, side seam, neck seam, sew in the assembled collar.
