Decorative topstitching

A line of stitching sewn on the right side of the fabric, 5 mm from the seam line, to secure allowances and add detail.

Where it is used

Topstitch Neckline and Armholes

p. 5
  1. Secure the seam allowances at the neckline and armholes to the lower layer of the top so it won't roll outward while worn. Mark matching reference points for where the stitching starts and ends. From each strap, measure 2.5 cm out to both sides. Press the seam allowances toward the lower layer and topstitch from the right side, catching the lower layer by 0.1-0.2 cm. At the beginning and end of each line of stitching, add neat backstitches.
