Placket attachment

The process of sewing, snipping, and layering the front button placket.

12.3. Marking placket corner

  1. Mark the corner of the placket stitching line on the right side of the front bodice. Also align the reference marks at the placket corner with the chalk markings on the front and placket pattern pieces.

12.5. Stitching placket to neckline

  1. Stitch the placket to the neckline edge at the front corner, carefully keeping the neckline level. Clip into the neckline seam allowance at the corner, stopping 1 mm short of the stitching. Seam allowance: 0.7 cm.

4-5. Prepare the plackets

  1. Finish one of the vertical edges on the plackets. Press the plackets in half lengthwise.

6. Mark reference points

  1. Mark reference points on the front piece. Chalk the stitching line for attaching the placket onto the front. Seam allowance is 1.0 cm for the vertical lines and the lower horizontal edge. Where the lines meet are your placket's reference points.

10. Lay out and layer plackets

  1. Lay out the placket, smoothing out all allowances, aligning every edge, pin the lower edge, and layer the top placket over the bottom one, making sure it matches the edge of the front panel.

7. Stitch plackets to front

11. Sew lower edge of placket
