Shoulder darts
Darts sewn on the back piece to shape the shoulder area.
Where it is used
Preparing Shoulder Gathers
p. 2- On the front bodice pieces, sew two parallel basting lines along the shoulder edge for gathering (first line 3 mm from the edge, second line 7 mm). Leave long thread tails at the ends.
Transferring and Sewing Back Darts
p. 2- Transfer the dart markings onto the wrong side of the back pieces. Fold the darts along the center line, secure with pins or baste, and sew along the marked lines, backstitching at both ends. Press the darts toward the center of the back piece.
Step 4: Assembling the bodice
p. 8- Sew the darts on the front and back of the bodice. Using the method specified above, gather the shoulder gathers of the upper parts to the required length. Also, using the method specified above, gather the gathers along the neckline of the upper parts to the required length. Do not forget to gather the bottom of the bodice in the same way, there is a gather along the bottom of the upper parts.
Pinning Back Darts
p. 1- Place the back pant pieces right sides together, matching up the center dart markings. Align along the marked lines and pin in place.
Pressing Back Darts
p. 2- Press the darts, then press the dart allowance toward the center. At the top point of the dart, gently steam-press using curved motions.
Sewing Back Darts
p. 2- Sew along the marked line with your machine, starting at the waist edge and finishing at the dart point.
5. Pressing waist darts
p. 10- Press the dart allowance toward the center seam.
Stitching Darts
p. 9- Stitch the dart on the panel.

p. 5- Stitch the darts on all pieces. Transfer the dart markings to the corresponding pieces or to the other side of the piece. Fold the darts along the center line, and pin or baste. Stitch the darts. Press lightly.
