Stitching in the ditch
A sewing technique where you stitch directly into the groove of an existing seam line to secure facing or plackets invisibly.
Where it is used
Stitching Waistband in the Ditch
p. 9- From the right side of the dress, sew precisely in the groove (stitch-in-the-ditch) between the waistband and the skirt to secure the inner waistband on the reverse side.
Stitching Collar in the Ditch
p. 8- From the front side, sew a line along the groove of the collar attachment seam. On the reverse side, check that the edge of the collar is caught in the stitch along the entire seam.

p. 15- Stitch a securing line along the waistband seam, keeping your stitching inside the seam groove.
Stitching Plackets in the Ditch
p. 11- Stitch the plackets. Perform the stitching from the right side in the ditch of the placket attachment seam; the stitching runs along the front piece. Start the stitching at the collar setting seam.
