Neckline facing assembly
The process of joining and attaching a fabric facing to clean-finish a V-neckline.
Where it is used
Positioning Neckline Binding
p. 3- Lay the bias tape on the right side of the dress top, matching the neckline and front edge. Do not stretch at the back neckline, but gently stretch along the straight front edge. Pin or baste in place.

Sewing Neckline Binding
p. 3- Sew along the seam allowance at 1 cm, ensuring the stitch line catches the main edge thread. Press with an iron.

Preparing Neckline Binding
p. 3- Fold the binding piece in half lengthwise and press flat, being careful not to stretch the fabric.

Gathering Lower Front Bodice
p. 4- Pull the lower threads to gather the lower edge of the front bodice to match the pattern specifications. Tie off the thread ends to secure.

Finishing Neckline Binding
p. 4- Trim seam allowances to 0.5 cm and make small notches along the back neckline curve. Press allowances toward the binding, fold the binding to the inside, baste by hand, and stitch 0.7 cm from the front opening edge.

Marking Neckline Centers
p. 3- Mark the center of the front and back at the neckline edge.

Pinning Neckline Facing
p. 4- Insert the facing into the neckline, right sides together, and pin in place, matching the notches. Align the facing seam with the raglan seam on the back of the left sleeve.

Shaping Neckline Facing
p. 4- Shape the facing with an iron, giving it a gentle curve. To do this, lightly stretch the raw edge of the neckline while pressing along the fold line.

Pressing Neckline Facing
p. 4- Press the neckline facing in half lengthwise, with the wrong sides together.

Stitching Neckline Facing
p. 4- Open up the facing along the pressed fold, then fold it right sides together, matching the short edges. Stitch with a 0.7 cm seam allowance. Press the seam, then press the seam allowances open.

Attaching Neckline Facing
p. 5- Attach the facing using an overlock machine, stitching along the edge of the facing. Press with an iron, then fold the seam allowances toward the shirt and press them flat.

Topstitching Neckline
p. 5- Press the seam allowances of the neckline toward the T-shirt and topstitch from the right side, keeping the stitch line 0.1–0.2 cm from the seam on the T-shirt.
