Trimming corners
Cutting away excess seam allowance at corners to ensure sharp, neat edges when turned right side out.
Where it is used
9. Clip corners diagonally
p. 5- Make diagonal snips at a 45-degree angle, stopping 1 mm short of the reference points on the panel piece.
Turn and Press Corners
p. 11- Turn the collar and hem allowance right side out, straighten the corners, and fold the zipper tape with twill tape to the inside of the sweatshirt. Press to set.
Trimming and Turning Collar
p. 6- In the collar corner, trim the seam allowances close to the stitching line. Press lightly, then press the seam allowances open (spread them to different sides) using a pressing ham (tailor's ham) for the collar's wet heat treatment (WHT). Turn the collar right side out, smooth out the corners, and press lightly.
Cutting corner notches
p. 13- Cut notches at a 45-degree angle, stopping just before the guide marks. 1 mm away from the marks.
Turning the closure corners
p. 16- Turn the upper corners of the closure right side out and press them flat.
Securing Seam Allowances
p. 3- Stitch the seam allowances close to the edge, then remove the basting thread.
Pinning Side Edges
p. 10- Pin the side edges together, aligning the edges and notches, with right sides facing each other.
