Single-sided zipper foot

A sewing machine foot designed to stitch very close to zipper teeth or bulky edges, ideal for lining attachment.

Stitch Hem Allowance Ends

  1. Turn the hem allowance to the right side, with the zipper tape inside. Pin in place. Sew on the sewing machine with a 1.0 cm seam allowance, using a single-toe presser foot. Press to finish.

Wrap and Stitch Collar Ends

  1. Wrap the zipper around the collar piece, making sure the zipper tape is evenly aligned on the inside. Pin the short ends and tape edges with pins. Stitch on a sewing machine with a 1.0 cm seam allowance using a single-toe presser foot. Press to set the seam.

Step 28: Stitching elastic to lining

  1. Sew and serge the elastic to the lower edge of the lining at the same time, using a 4-thread overlock. Stretch the elastic as you work. Allow a seam allowance of 0.7 cm.

Stitching First Zipper Side

  1. Attach the invisible zipper foot to the sewing machine. Turn the zipper teeth and place them under the foot so that the teeth are positioned to the left of the needle, in the groove of the foot. Stitch the zipper, starting the stitching from the upper stopper and finishing 2–3 mm before the lower control point. Secure the stitching with backstitches at the beginning and end.
