Back darts
Tapered folds sewn into the back panel of the skirt to shape the garment to the body.
Where it is used
Transferring and Sewing Back Darts
p. 2- Transfer the dart markings onto the wrong side of the back pieces. Fold the darts along the center line, secure with pins or baste, and sew along the marked lines, backstitching at both ends. Press the darts toward the center of the back piece.

Pinning Back Darts
p. 1- Place the back pant pieces right sides together, matching up the center dart markings. Align along the marked lines and pin in place.

Sewing Back Darts
p. 2- Sew along the marked line with your machine, starting at the waist edge and finishing at the dart point.

4. Sewing waist darts
p. 10- Sew the waist darts on the back pant pieces.

3. Marking waist darts
p. 10- Mark the placement of the waist darts on the back pant pieces, matching the markings on the back pattern piece.

4. Sew waist darts
p. 10- Sew the waist darts on the back pant pieces.

Marking Waist Darts
p. 9- Mark the placement of the waist darts on the back panel from the wrong side according to the markings on the back panel pattern.

Sewing Waist Darts
p. 10- Sew the waist darts on the back panel.

2. Press bust darts
p. 5- Press the dart seam allowance upward.

Pressing Back Waist Darts
p. 6- Press the waist dart allowance on the back piece towards the center, and press the waist dart allowance on the back lining piece towards the side seams.

Pinning the Back Darts
p. 1- Place the back pant pieces right sides together, matching up the center dart markings. Align along the marked lines and pin in place.
