Cuff assembly
The process of preparing and attaching rib-knit cuffs to the sleeves.
Where it is used
Cuff Preparation - Pressing
p. 7- Press the cuffs in half lengthwise, folding with the wrong side inside.
Cuff Preparation - Pinning Ring
p. 8- Pin the cuff edges into a ring, right sides together.
Cuff Preparation - Sewing Ring
p. 8- Sew the cuff edges into a ring. Seam allowance: 1.0 cm.
Cuff Preparation - Pressing Seams
p. 8- Press the seam allowances of the cuff seam open. Press the sewn cuff again, folding it in half lengthwise.
Attaching Cuffs - Pinning
p. 9- Pin the cuffs to the sleeve hem, matching raw edges, seams, and notches, with right sides together.
Attaching Cuffs - Stitching
p. 9- Stitch the cuffs to the sleeve hem and serge at the same time on a 4-thread overlock. Seam allowance: 0.7 cm. Using a hook, tuck the serger tails into the coverstitch from the wrong side.

p. 9- Press the seam allowance from attaching the cuffs to the sleeve hem toward the sleeves.

p. 10- Fold each cuff in half with the right sides facing in, then sew the short edge together.

p. 11- Begin by folding the cuff in half lengthwise, with the wrong side facing in. Pin it together, matching the notches and seam line. Next, sew a temporary straight stitch about 2–3 mm from the edge, making sure the edges stay even. As you sew, gently stretch the cuff if needed and remove the pins as you go. When finished, press the cuff carefully—avoid stretching or misshaping it.

p. 11- Pull the threads to gather the fabric, spreading the gathers evenly around. Once gathered, the lower edge should measure 1.5 times the length of the cuff.

p. 12- Insert the cuff into the sleeve with right sides facing each other, aligning the seam allowances. Once stitched, turn the cuff right side out.

p. 12- Secure the cuff in place with pins, then sew an overlock stitch BETWEEN the lines used to tighten the sleeve. Stitch along the cuff side.
