Placket assembly
The process of reinforcing, folding, and attaching the front opening bands to the cardigan.
Where it is used
Attaching the Placket to the Cardigan
p. 15- Pin or baste the placket to the right side of the neckline, matching the center seam to the center back notch and aligning other notches. Attach the placket, leaving the bottom seam allowance loose. Topstitch both the beginning and the end of the placket.
Final Pressing and Finishing
p. 18- Remove all basting threads and chalk marks. Press the placket, lightly steaming along the back neckline to help it lay smoothly, and give the entire cardigan a final pressing.
Pressing Plackets
p. 4- Press the placket pieces in half, wrong sides together, aligning with the center control points of the piece.
Stitching Bottom Edge of Plackets
p. 10- Stitch the bottom edge, making the stitching exactly from one clip (notch) to the other clip (notch).
Finishing Placket Stitching
p. 11- Remove the basting stitches. Press lightly.
