Serger (overlock)
A specialized sewing machine that trims fabric edges and encases them in thread, essential for sewing stretchy knit seams.
Where it is used
Serge the center back seam
p. 6- Align the center edges of the back pieces. Serge them together, trimming off any excess seam allowance as you go. If you don’t have a serger, you can finish the edges with a zigzag stitch instead. Many knit fabrics don’t fray at the cut edge, so you can skip finishing altogether! For seams, a zigzag stitch works well—set the width and length to 0.5*1.5, or use any other stretch stitch your machine offers.
