4-thread serger
An overlock machine that trims and finishes fabric edges while sewing them together, ideal for knits and seam finishing.
Where it is used
Sewing Shoulder Seams
p. 3- Place the front and back pieces right sides together, aligning the shoulder edges. Pin in place from the back piece side. Use a serger set for four-thread stitching to sew the seam. Stitch from the back piece side.

4. Sew shoulder seams
p. 5- Sew and serge the shoulder edges at the same time using a 4-thread overlocker (or sew with a regular machine, then finish the edges with a standard 3-thread overlocker).

13. Sew sleeves
p. 7- Sew and serge the sleeves into the armholes using a 4-thread overlock machine. (Alternatively, stitch with a sewing machine first, then finish the edges on a regular 3-thread overlock.)
